FAQ
- How can I register?
- You can register with your Google account, or any other supported account: Facebook or GitHub by clicking on the sign in link of the landing page of Chorizzo.
- How can I add new members to my team?
-
Once you've registered yourself a new group will be created for you. You will also receive an invite link via email which you should share with other members of your household. With this invite link they will be able to join your group. They just need to click on the link and then register themselves the same way you did.
(It is recommended that you all belong to the same group. If you are in separate groups then there will be no real way to compare each others' achievements. The points you may earn only have value if others can earn them the same way you did.)
Note that the link will expire after 3 days and you'll need to generate a new one afterwards.
- My invite link has expired. How can I invite others to join my group?
-
When you create a new group, an invite link will be generated for you but it will only be valid for 3 days. If you want to invite people afterwards, you can generate a new invite link in the group administration page.
In the left sidebar click on Settings, then click on Your Group. In the middle of the page you'll see a Generate Invite Link button. Click on it and this will generate a new invite link, which will again be valid for 3 days.
You may also type in the email address of any person you want to invite and we'll send them an invitation email.
- How to change my profile picture?
- You can change it by clicking on your profile picture in the left sidebar. This will open a page where you will have the option to change your picture. Click on the Select Avatar button and select one of the presented pictures. You may also use any custom picture from the internet, just make sure the picture size is not too large or else it might become distracting for others.
- The week doesn't start on the day that I want. How to change this?
-
The start of the week differs among countries and cultures. For some people the week starts on Monday, for others it's Sunday or Saturday. You can change the day when a week starts for your group in the group administration page.
Click on Settings, then click on Your Group. There will be a field where you can select the first day of the week. Don't forget to click on Save!
- How to change the display language?
- You may change the language by clicking on your profile image in the left sidebar. You will see a field where you can select the display language. Don't forget to click on Save!
- How can I inactivate / ban someone from the team?
-
Group moderators have the ability to ban team members. Banned users will not be able to log into Chorizzo until the ban is lifted.
We think it is unlikely that you will actually want to ban anyone in your group, so the real reason why you would want to use this feature is to inactivate someone. Let's say you're living in an apartment with 3 other flatmates and one of them moves out. The chores they did and the points they earned should not simply disappear, because it would skew the historical statistics. In this case, they should simply be "inactivated". They will not appear on the list of people to do chores anymore, but their name will remain on past chores.
Should they ever come back, you can always "unban" them.
- Where do I set up the types of chores to do? How can I add new types of chores to the existing list?
-
On the left sidebar click on Settings and then click on Work Types. You will see the list of already defined types of chores and at the bottom of the list you'll see a + sign. By clicking on the + button you will be able to add new chore types to your list.
You may also modify existing work types by clicking on them in the list and then clicking on Edit.
- How can I delete a work type?
-
To delete a work type, open the left sidebar, click on Settings and then click on Work Types. In the list, find the task you want to delete, open it and click on Delete.
Note that only group moderators may delete work types.
- What happens if I delete a work type?
- If you delete a work type, the already existing chores of that type will not be deleted. However, you will not be able to schedule new chores of that type, at least not until you create it once again.
- How can I set someone as the default assignee for a given task?
-
If someone agrees to be the default assignee for one type of chore, then all newly created chores of that type will be automatically assigned to that person. To set the default assignee, open the left sidebar, click on Settings, then click Work Types, click on the task you want to modify and click on Edit.
You should see a field saying Default Assignee where you can select a person from the list. Select whoever you want to be the default assignee and click on Save.
- Where can I check my points?
- You see how many points you have under the Statistics button in the left sidebar. There's also a button in the top left corner.
- How do I add a new chore?
-
First, select the day when you want the chore to be done. Then click on the + button in the bottom right corner.
A window will pop up where you can select the type of work to be done, set the date (if it's inaccurate), fill out the description if you want and set the number of points. Usually you'd want to leave the default number of points, unless there's a special reason why you'd want to change it.
At this point you may even assign a person to do the work. You may assign it to yourself, too. If you don't yet know who will do it, just leave the field empty. The chore will get a question mark sign and anyone can volunteer to do it.
- How can I assign a chore to myself or to others?
- When you see a chore in the calendar and there is a ? next to it, it means no one volunteered to do it yet. You may click on it and then click on Assign To Me if you want to do it. You may also assign it to someone else by selecting that person from the list. Just be sure the other person knows about it.
- How can I set a chore as finished?
- When you log in to Chorizzo your chores will be listed on the landing page. Here you can mark the ones you have finished.
- What if I cannot finish a task after all?
- When you log in your chores will be listed on the landing page. If you know that you won't be able to complete one or more chores, click on Won't do and the chores will be returned to the pool of unassigned tasks. Others will have the opportunity to finish them and earn points.
- How do I see what chores others have completed?
-
Take a look at the calendar, all chores are listed here and next to the chores you'll see the initials of the person who is assigned to it. In case a chore has not been assigned to anyone yet, a question mark will appear next to it. You may take it for yourself.
You may also click on the group icon in the top right corner of the title bar. This will lead you to a page where you can see all group members and what their latest accomplishments were.
- I forgot to set my chores as completed and the week has ended. Now what?
- Unfortunately, if a week has ended you will no longer have the option to modify the tasks within it. They became read-only. You need to be diligent and close all your tasks in order to earn your points.
- How can I change between weekly and monthly display of chores?
-
You are able to see a calendar displaying all the chores for the current month, or you may see only the chores for the current week.
To change between these two displays, find the link at the top of the page, below the Todo List. It should say "Switch to Weekly View" or "Switch to Monthly View".
Note that this switch is only temporary. If you want to make it permanent, click on your profile image in the left sidebar to open your Profile settings. There you will have the option to select between monthly and weekly displays. If you click on Save, it will be saved as your default view.
